During the General Assembly held on April 25, the Public Interest Group (GIP) of the Franco-British Museum of the Merville Battery elected its new governing team.
The members of the GIP elected Olivier Paz as President. He will be supported by Marie Arnout, Mayor of Merville-Franceville-Plage, and Colonel John Power, elected as Vice-Presidents, while Hugues Lanchon will serve as Treasurer.
The Merville Battery is a formidable German Army fortification which was located on the Eastern flank of the Allied landings on 6 June 1944.
Bombed several times without success, it was neutralised by the 9th British Parachute Battalion after an assault of unbelievable ferocity.
