Volunteers from Merville-Dakota will be moving this iconic aircraft out of its hangar on Thursday, April 16 at 2:00 PM.
It will then take its place outside, pointing its nose back toward the sky, where it will remain on display throughout the summer season for visitors to enjoy.
A special moment made possible thanks to the dedication of the volunteers who help preserve this remarkable piece of history.
The Merville Battery is a formidable German Army fortification which was located on the Eastern flank of the Allied landings on 6 June 1944.
Bombed several times without success, it was neutralised by the 9th British Parachute Battalion after an assault of unbelievable ferocity.
